Ilex crenata 'Sky Pencil'

Ilex crenata 'Sky Pencil': A Pencil-Thin Column of Glossy Leaves

Sky Pencil forms an exceptionally narrow column, bringing height to the garden through glossy dark green leaves. The foliage lacks the sharp leaf-edge spines often associated with holly, giving it a gentler texture. Its distinctive upright shape is the main attraction, with small seasonal flowers and fruit adding quieter details.

Plant Characteristics:

• Height: 175-200 cm
• Spread: 60-100 cm
• Flower Colour: Green
• Flowering Period: Spring
• Foliage: Dark Green
• Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun / Partial Sun
• Soil Requirements: Moist to Average Soil / Well-Drained Soil

Uses and Benefits:

Use Sky Pencil as a slim vertical accent beside an entrance or between lower rounded shrubs. Its exceptionally narrow outline introduces height in a small planting space without the broad canopy of a conventional holly.

Care Instructions:

Maintain moisture in rich acidic soil and do not let the root zone dry out. Alkaline soil can cause leaf yellowing. Protect the roots with mulch in exposed positions and avoid heavy shaping that compromises the naturally slender column.
