Gaylussacia brachycera 'Berried Treasure': Small Blue Berries and Brilliant Autumn Leaves
Berried Treasure forms a low, spreading shrub with glossy dark green leaves and small blue berries in July and August. The foliage changes to brilliant red in autumn, extending interest well beyond picking.
Plant Characteristics:
- Height: 25-30 cm
- Spread: 50-80 cm
- Flower Colour: White
- Flowering Period: Spring
- Foliage: Dark Green
- Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun / Partial Sun
- Soil Requirements: Moist to Average Soil; Well-Drained Soil
Uses and Benefits: Use it along the edge of an edible border or where a low fruiting shrub can be viewed closely. This self-pollinating selection combines a compact crop with conspicuous autumn colour.
Care Instructions: Provide acidic, well-drained soil and steady moisture while the roots establish. Mulch the shallow root zone, avoid drying it out in hot weather and prune lightly to preserve its low outline.
