Ficus carica 'Little Ruby'

Ficus carica 'Little Ruby': Small Figs with Intensely Sweet Flesh

Little Ruby bears small figs with red flesh and a very sweet flavour. This self-pollinating selection is particularly useful for container growing, bringing both fruit and bold foliage into a patio planting.

Plant Characteristics:

• Height: 3-6 m
• Spread: 3-6 m
• Flower Colour: Inconspicuous flowers enclosed within the developing fig
• Flowering Period: Spring / Summer / Late Spring to Summer
• Foliage: Green
• Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun
• Soil Requirements: Moist to Average Soil; Average to Dry Soil; Well-Drained Soil

Uses and Benefits: Choose it where a movable pot makes winter protection practical. The smaller fruit offers a sweet fresh snack without requiring a second fig cultivar.

Care Instructions: Use a free-draining container mix and maintain moisture while fruit develops. Move the pot to a protected winter location, then return it gradually to outdoor conditions as spring weather becomes suitable.
