Blackberry x 'Black Satin'

Blackberry x 'Black Satin': Sweet Blackberries Without the Thorns

Black Satin offers large, sweet berries on thornless, relatively upright canes. Its July crop brings blackberry flavour into the garden without the same prickly picking experience as thorny selections.

Plant Characteristics:

• Height: 100-125 cm
• Spread: 100-125 cm
• Flower Colour: White
• Flowering Period: Late Spring to Summer
• Foliage: Green
• Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun
• Soil Requirements: Moist to Average Soil; Well-Drained Soil; Average to Dry Soil

Uses and Benefits: Enjoy the fruit fresh, freeze surplus berries or use them for canning. The upright canes need comparatively little support, although an orderly row still makes picking easier.

Care Instructions: Leave strong new canes to produce next season's fruit. After harvesting, remove the canes that have finished cropping and keep replacement growth spaced for light and air.
