Hemerocallis EveryDaylily™ Orange®: A Small, Nonstop Jolt of Orange

Bright orange trumpets, all summer, no breaks. This compact daylily doesn't take sick days and has never once asked about vacation time. HR IS CONCERNED. WE ARE NOT.

Plant Characteristics:

  • Botanical Name: Hemerocallis 'VER00326'
  • Common Name: Daylily
  • Series: EveryDaylily™, bred by Heemskerk in the Netherlands
  • Height: 35 cm (14 in) in flower
  • Spread: 30–40 cm (12–16 in)
  • Flowers: Bright orange, trumpet-shaped, about 8–10 cm (3–4 in) across
  • Bloom Time: Early summer until frost (June to September)
  • Foliage: Narrow, arching green leaves in a compact clump
  • Features: Long, continuous bloom

Where to Plant: It's a natural for edging, for mass planting along a driveway, or for pots on a sunny step. Clay soil and cold winters are no trouble. Deer and rabbits do enjoy daylilies, so give it a protected spot if they're regulars in your yard.

Companion Plants: Orange daylilies sit well beside Amsonia 'Storm Cloud', whose blue flowers open in May and June. Polemonium 'Apricot Delight' brings apricot flowers in June and July, a soft echo of the orange. Solidago ptarmicoides adds white flowers from July to September at 30 to 60 cm. Everything here grows in full sun or part sun.

Plant Care: Plant it in full sun for nonstop flowers. Part sun works, with fewer blooms. Set the crown about 2.5 cm (1 in) deep in average, well-drained soil and water through the first season. Containers need more frequent watering in summer. Once established, it tolerates dry spells. Tidy away faded flowers and finished stalks. Clear the foliage in late fall or early spring. Divide in spring or late summer every few years when the clump gets crowded.

History: EveryDaylily™ Orange® comes from the Heemskerk family nursery in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, and was registered in 2019. The series was developed from 'Stella de Oro' breeding lines, aiming for nonstop flowering on compact, hardy plants.

Final Thoughts: Plant it in a pot, along a path or anywhere you need colour on autopilot. It blooms until frost. ORANGE YOU GLAD YOU BOUGHT IT?
