Saskatoon Berry x 'Smokey'

Saskatoon Berry x 'Smokey': Spring Flowers Followed by a Saskatoon Harvest

Smokey bears white flowers in early spring and blueberry-like fruit in early summer. Its productive shrub framework brings edible value to a border that also needs a seasonal flower display.

Plant Characteristics:

• Height: 200-250 cm
• Spread: 175-200 cm
• Flower Colour: White
• Flowering Period: Early Spring
• Foliage: Green
• Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun
• Soil Requirements: Well-Drained Soil; Moist to Average Soil

Uses and Benefits: Use the berries for pies and jam or enjoy ripe fruit fresh. The substantial shrub can contribute structure to a mixed productive garden.

Care Instructions: Grow in a sunny position with moist, well-drained soil. Renew older growth selectively, leave room for picking and watch the berries closely so the ripe crop can be gathered before birds take it.
