Jostaberry: Dark Berries with Currant and Gooseberry Character
Jostaberry combines black currant and gooseberry qualities in fruit that begins green and ripens deep purple. Its sweet-tangy crop generally matures in late July on a tall, comparatively narrow shrub.
Plant Characteristics:
- Height: 100-125 cm
- Spread: 100-125 cm
- Flower Colour: Cream
- Flowering Period: Spring
- Foliage: Green
- Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun / Partial Sun
- Soil Requirements: Well-Drained Soil; Moist to Average Soil
Uses and Benefits: Enjoy the berries fresh or use them in pies, jam and jelly. This self-pollinating hybrid offers several kitchen uses without requiring a separate pollination partner.
Care Instructions: Provide moderate moisture in well-drained soil, in sun or partial shade. Renew older branches gradually and keep the centre open so fruit can colour well and be picked comfortably.
