Achillea 'Saucy Seduction': Bold Rose Pink on Repeat

Rose-pink plates with tiny white eyes, batting them at every butterfly that drifts by. 'Saucy Seduction' doesn't play hard to get. It plays EASY TO GROW, which is somehow more dangerous.

Where to Plant: Use it at the front or middle of a sunny border, in mass plantings, in a large container or in a cutting garden. It handles average soil, including clay, as long as water doesn't pool around it. A hot bed near the sidewalk suits it just fine.

Companion Plants: Start at the edge with Euphorbia myrsinites, a low plant with yellow flowers in May and June. Verbena stricta matches the yarrow's season with lavender spikes from June to September. For the back, Delphinium New Millennium™ 'Double Innocence' grows to 130 cm with white spires in early summer. The pink yarrow sits right in the middle, and all four share full sun.

Plant Care: Plant in full sun in average, well-drained soil. Yarrow doesn't need rich soil or extra fertilizer; too much feeding makes it floppy. Water well through the first season, then only during long dry spells. Deadhead faded flower clusters to keep new buds coming. Cut the plant back in late fall or early spring. Divide every three or four years in spring if the centre starts to thin.

History: The Seduction™ series was bred in the Netherlands and brought to North American gardens through Blooms of Bressingham®. The goal was compact, upright yarrows that bloom evenly over a long season.

Final Thoughts: Deer and rabbits keep their paws to themselves around this one. Plant it in full sun and let it flirt all summer. A LITTLE SAUCE NEVER HURT ANYBODY.
